I’m stealing a line from the episode. Again. Coincidentally, the last time I did that was also for a [info]darandkerry episode; Tempting Fate. Why is that? Glad you asked. Because, frankly, she just keeps coming up and using some of the best lines, so why shouldn’t I ‘borrow’ them ;)

After stopping two serial killers, copycats killers, abusers, and cult leaders the Club truly needs time off to relax and bond over something other than a corps. Thankfully this week, they get it in [info]darandkerry 's episode Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. That’s all they really want, but as the saying (sorta) goes; it’s all fun and games until someone loses consciousness and part of their memory.

When something you read makes you spontaneously respond out loud, I personally believe it’s a sign of a phenomenally written piece. While reading this latest episode I let out many Ha’s!! and Aww’s a couple of Ouches and Bwahahaha’s and a few Uh-oh’s. Oh and lest I forget, one major Huh?! I didn’t get that puzzle thing either. What do you mean, what puzzle thing? Go read the episode! STAT!

There may have been a few incidents which put the Club’s fun on hold, but my own enjoyment of this stellar episode was total.

Last Friday, I was made aware that I have a VS ritual. I hadn’t really acknowledged it as such, but in fact, I do. It usually takes me 2, 2 hours and half to read an episode. It may sound long; I can read 50 pages faster than that. But in the case of WMS VS, why rush a great meal? Every Friday that brings a new episode, I sit down at the computer at 8 sharp, well okay I have to admit that due to unforeseen events, I have been 6 or 7minutes late in the past, but I’ve tried not to let that happen too often. Okay so once I’m in front of the screen, occasionally enjoying an alcoholic beverage that may contain 1 or when I’m feeling particularly adventurous 3 olives, I start my VS process.

Process which consists of opening the previous episode and reading a few excerpts meanwhile hearing one of the actors, in my head, saying “Previously on Women’s murder club...” You may roll your eyes and snicker but I’m telling you, you should try it next time. It works and it’s fun. I usually hear one of the women but Jacobi has snuck in there a couple of times.

Next, I start the staring. I examine[info]grumpybear1031 ’s banner from every angle and analyze every pixel in search of clues. The graphics compliment the episode perfectly and helps with the visualization of the episode. Then the reading begins. Sometimes I take notes of favorite lines or moments, but generally I reserve that for the second reading. That’s what I’ve done for the past 17 episodes, and that’s what I did last Friday for episode 3x05, Shadows of the Past.

A lot went on in this week’s episode. And [info]inspectorboxer brought it. For the seventh time, she brought excitement, action, drama, laughs, romance, warmth, even special guest stars and served them on a silver platter.

I know why I never really played before. This game is cruel ;)

But if anybody wants to play or play again; the rules just in case.

1) Comment this and I will give you 3 people.

2) Post this meme with your answers.

3) Provide pictures and the names of 3 people.

4) Label which you would marry, shag, and throw off a cliff

Also if anyone wants Sue Sylvester raise your hand.

[info]demeter94   suggested the following:

Mellie (Dollhouse) Cindy (WMC) Gillian (Lie to Me)

What do you do when the monster you’ve been hunting for seven years is finally caught? Well if you’re Inspector Lindsay Boxer of The San Francisco Police department you start looking for him in another murder suspect. That’s how she deals.

After a blood curling teaser, [info]demeter94’s Till Death Do US Part, picks up the action immediately where the previous episode left off.  Lindsay and Cindy are rescued and physically freed from Pete’s House of Horrors, but there are still psychological hurdles to go over. Once again[info]demeter94 does a fantastic job showing Lindsay’s strengths and weaknesses, her strong stubborn resolve and her insecurities until, in the end, working things trough at her own pace, Lindsay can finally see signs of a brighter future.

After a 77-day waiting period, this fourth installment of the third season was the perfect way to be reacquainted with the Women’s Murder Club. In other words; All hail the return of the VS! :D [info]wmc_vs

Happy Thanksgiving...

…to all my fellow Canucks!

Life is very good these days, so I have a lot to be thankful for.

Specifically:

Women’s Murder Club, ABC ( I know weird), LJ, WMC Virtual Season, Yahoo, project 2010, Skype, voice mails, Riley’s fic updates, beach vacations, episode watching, Happy Hours,  Google frenzies,  missed buses, Paris, cafés crèmes, Edelweiss beer with lemon,  packed métro car…all things that paved the road to love and happiness :)

Also, very grateful that VS Season 3 resumes Friday  :D

Here’s a little addition to[info]demeter94 ’s Paris recap. We managed to cover a lot of ground in 4 and ½ days and I wondered just how much mileage we’d actually accumulated. So, for fun, and mostly my own curiosity, with the help of Google maps, my travel journal, and our recollection, I decided to try and find out.

I promised[info]demeter94 (who by the way, if it is at all possible, is even more awesome when you meet her in real life) I wouldn’t let her do all the work and that I would do at least one Paris post. She’s been doing such a terrific job recapping our time there, I thought I would focus more on the things we learned and un-learned about the City of Lights.

It was recently brought to my attention that even with all the dissecting of banners and past episodes I did before the VS 3.0 started wmc_vs  (theorizing, trying to figure who Pete really was), I missed one of the biggest clues. Indeed, KMN’s identity  practically spilled out of the sicko’s own mouth.

From episode 2x06 Apostate Blues by :[info]liz_estrada

“I'm not playing some fairy tale game with you. I haven't mocked-up the way I feel,” Pete told her. “I know you a little, Lindsay Boxer. And if you know me at all, you know I don't give up easily.”

Fairy tale game? Fairy. Tale. Game. Are you kidding me? How could I’ve missed that? Lol!

Anyway, there you have it. Pete outing himself as the Kiss Me Not Killer. Okay, so not really but it was a pretty good clue. And the fact that I wouldn’t have noticed it even if it had jumped up and bit me on the nose, is, again, proof positive of the VS crew’s awesomely huge talent. I was reminded once more (not that I needed it but…) the story they are creating is so captivating and masterfully put together that, even hidden in plain sight, what turned out to be a major clue went unnoticed.

When I think about it, though, it made the summer season even more exciting.

From heart wrenching to heart warming, with Methods and Madness, the last episode of the VS 3.0 miniseries, word-wizard,[info]liz_estrada’s  brings the adrenaline-filled three-part ride to a riveting finish. Inspector Lindsay Boxer of the San Francisco Police turns out to be the hero fans always knew she was. She can fight and survive under the direst of circumstances.

Second episode of the Women’s Murder Club virtual mini-series and there is absolutely no coming down from it.[info]wmc_vs

This VS mini-series has gone from rollercoaster ride to unstoppable speed train. Haunted by[info]demeter94  was crafted with inventiveness and exceptional attention to detail. Through out the episode flashbacks are interjected and take us to various and very significant points in the Club’s history. We also get to spend a generous amount of time in the dark recesses of KMN’s mind. And it is well…hunting.

The club really needs to stop Pete this time because otherwise it’s over for all of them.

WMC - The Hunt Is On - Vs 3.0 Episode 1

Yeeeessss!!!!!! The Virtual season is back.[info]wmc_vs

And wow is it back. I know I’ve said this many times, many ways and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, a parrot or whatever else repeats a lot, (my 97 year-old neighbour) WMC fans are the luckiest fans on the web. Sure we may have gotten the shaft a couple of times by some of the original PTB, but the new and unofficial-official PTB know how to do it right. And judging by the first of the three-part mini-series, they haven’t lost their magic touch.

[info]inspectorboxer’s  superb episode, Beginning of the End, was every bit the rollercoaster ride I was told it would be. A slow tension-filled ascension, followed by a leisurely  glide along seemingly inoffensive tracks until you get to the edge and the sudden drop leaves your heart hanging somewhere in the stratosphere.

I still haven’t completely come down. Although, after a few weeks of speculation I had started to suspect some of the outcome, a lot of it was a total surprise; I’d even say some things blew me away.

If you haven’t read the episode yet you shouldn’t peek under the cut. By the way, why haven’t you read the episode yet? What the heck are you waiting for? Get your butt over there ;)

WMC - VS 3.0 - Speculations - Theory #3

STANDING BY

Just a little over 24 hours before the VS 3.0 premieres. I don’t think there’s a word that can describe my excitement so I’m not going to try to find one.  I am however going to post one last theory/speculation. This time I’m pretty sure I’m right. No. I know I am right. I shouldn’t even call it a theory. It’s a fact really. After going over the last episode of VS 2, reading and re-reading the teaser, and examining the banner until my retinas bled, I can safely say that what I found out about season 3 is 100% accurate.

Once again, under a cut to prevent unintentional spoilage.

WMC - VS 3.0 - Speculations - Theory #2

STANDING BY

8 days until the premiere. 8 FREAKIN’ DAYS PEOPLE!!! Okay. Deep breath I’m alright. But can you just hear the sound of a stale muffin getting its ass kicked? Well okay admittedly the ass kicking probably won’t happen in the first episode but it will happen. I mean it has to. Right? Anyway in the meantime I’ve got theory it could be bunnies. Because bunnies aren’t cute like everybody supposes and neither is Pete. Wait. Did anybody ever think Pete was cute? Perhaps, yes, his mother, in the hospital a few days after he was born and before his horns grew in. Granted.

But, seriously this week’s speculation is brought to you courtesy of[info]liz_estrada. Last week I bemoaned the fact that spoilers were harder to find than Stephen Baldwin’s talent. But in fact we do have a spoiler, albeit a cryptic one. And if such is your wish, you can read about it under the cut. If not, skip ahead to this week’s trivia question.

WMC - VS 3.0 - Speculations - Theory #1

STANDING BY

17 days until July 17th.  17 days until we find out if 58.3% of the VS fans who answered the poll were right, and Lindsay took Cindy to a private resort or if the 45.8% who think Pete is a copy cat made the right call.

I’ve been thinking I personally made the wrong one. Originally, I was convinced (or rather I convinced myself) he was a copy cat. Not so sure anymore. I guess it is now time for crazy-ass theories and speculations. No spoilers. I think it would be easier to get recently de-crowned Miss California to sing at my wedding than it is to get spoilers.   Though Lord knows I’ve tried, but all I get is “you’ll see” and “no comment” which some people take waaaay too much pleasure in saying ;)

I’m putting everything under a cut in case I hit something shooting in the dark. So if someone happens by here and wants to remain blissfully unaware, they can. They can also skip ahead to the WMC trivia question. I thought I’d be fun if I posted a new one with each theory until the season starts.

No celebration party is complete without games, right? So on this first annual WMC Day, I felt like playing a little Six-Degrees. Basic “Six-Degrees” rule apply: connecting any actor in history to The Club.

In honor of the founder of this celebration, I will attempt link part time actor Jon Bon Jovi to one of our beloved Club members.

Bon Jovi was in Pay it Forward with Helen Hunt

Hunt was in Doctor T and the Women with Richard Gere

Gere was in Pretty Woman with Jason Alexander

Alexander was on Seinfeld with Susan Walters

Walters was on Point Pleasant with Aubrey Dollar

Character Meme

  • Apr. 12th, 2009 at 6:24 PM
ppjoe-tv

I was tagged by demeter94. She gave me Lindsay Boxer. I would have thought, if she’d had her, she would have kept her for herself. Oh well, thanks :)

1. Do you like this character?
Yes, I do. Despite, and possibly because of, her many flaws, I do like her a lot.

2. What name/s do you call this character?
Lindsay. Her friends may call her
Linz. Other people may call her Boxer. I like Lindsay :)

3. What image-color do you associate with this character?
White. As in hat and horse.

4. What image-song do you associate with this character?
Yellow Rose of
Texas? Honestly I don’t know.

 5. What blood-type do you think this character is?
 Red-blooded American  :)

6. Of all of the titles this character appears in, what character do you like to put this character with?
Cindy Thomas. That. Is. All.

7. What would you want to say to this character?
I think I’d be too nervous to say anything to her. Except to de-brained Lindsay Boxer of episode 1x12. Oh I’d have plenty to say to her. To yell at her actually.

8. Which do you want to do with this character: Shake hands, hug, or kiss?
I’m afraid all I’d be able to do is; stare.

I couldn’t make up my mind who to tag. If you’re interested in a character let me know and I’ll assign you one ;)

Thanks to all of you who took the time and sent in your favorite moments. If your particular favorite is not on the list, please feel free to comment and add it.

Now, while we patiently wait for July 17th and the start of season 3, let us reflect one more time on the awesomeness that was season 2.

On With The Show!!

Most creative way to kill a sinner

 - Force feed him chicken until he croaks: Ep. Begin Again by Inspector Boxer

- Bury him in a tub full of rare coins:  Ep. In God We Trust by Mysensitiveside

- Stick a hot poker through her eye:  Ep. Humility Before Honor by Riley LaShea

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Mysensitiveside

Each nominee was effectively horrifying and depicted how twisted and depraved HM was, but there is something cleverly sinister about burying a banker in money.

Favorite Non–Club friendship “Jacobi Rocks!”   moment

 - Jacobi gives Clifford and Bryan a speech, Ep Sins of the Father, Sins of the Daughter by Riley LaShea

- Jacobi teases Lindsay about her feelings for Cindy, Ep. Apostate Blues by Liz Estrada

- Jacobi being there for Claire, Ep.Torn Asunder by Inspector Boxer

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

 Riley LaShea

This scene depicts the depth of the friendship between Lindsay and Jacobi. They are more than mere partners. And it shows the impact her father’s reputation as a dirty cop has had on her over the years. It becomes a very important piece of the Boxer puzzle.

Most Awww-inspiring moment

- The "No Loitering! Seriously?” moment, between Lindsay and Cindy Ep. In God We   Trust – by Mysensitiveside.

- The “I’m one of your best friends” moment, Ep. Begin Again by Inspector Boxer

- The “I’ve never been courted by you” moment, Ep. Apostate Blues by Liz Estrada

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Inspector Boxer

There were awww moments in each episode. This was a tough one. But the best friend moment “…that made a warm spot bloom in Lindsay’s chest." had the same effect on all of us, and it was reminiscent of the Grinch. How can you resist that? Plus this is where L/C really begins.

Favorite Non-HM storyline

 - School hostage situation, Ep. Under Siege by Demeter94

- Foreign giant on a killing spree, Ep. Apostate Blues by Liz Estrada.

- HM Copycat, Ep. Tempting Fate by Darandkerry

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Darandkerry

All of them great side cases to be sure. But the copy cat story stood out as a really intricate mystery which kept us guessing until the very last act.

Most heart-pounding moment

 - Claire and Lindsay realize HM is going after JIll, Ep. Thy Will Be Done part 2 by Inspector Boxer

- Lindsay races up the Hall stairs to get to Cindy, Ep. Apostate Blues by Liz Estrada

- Lindsay runs after HM down a dark tunnel, Ep.  Deliver Us From Evil by Inspector Boxer

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Liz Estrada

From the moment she asks Jacobi to “Please, Warren …please just get me there.” To her frantic race up the Hall stairs, Lindsay’s fear and desperation are palpable.

Favorite Club moment

 - The Club gathers in Lindsay’s attic in a show of determined support, Ep. Thy Will Be Done part 2 by Inspector Boxer.

- “The circle of love” Jill and Claire unquestionably accept Lindsay and Cindy’s relationship, Ep. Tempting fate by Darandkerry

- Movie night (club watches Mamma Mia), Ep. Repeat Offender by Grumpybear and Darandkerry

And the Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Grumpybear1031 and Darandkerry

We could easily name the entire Virtual Season as the favorite club moment since the VS essentially resurrected the Club.  But showing the 4 of them having fun together, really emphasized the friendship which is the best part of the Club.

Most gut-wrenching tear-jerker scene

 - Jill comes face-to-face with her abusive Stepfather, Ep. Repeat Offender by Grumpybear and Darandkerry

-  Claire comes home and Ed, who’s been waiting, reaches out to her for help, Ep. Thorn Asunder by Inspector Boxer

- Frightened and frustrated, Lindsay lashes out at Cindy, Ep. Under Siege by Demeter94

And The Clubby goes to…

*
*
*
*
*

Demeter94

Lindsay, struggling with her yet to be identified feelings for Cindy, yells at her when the reporter is already down. The scene holds no emotional punches.

SPECIAL AWARDS

No ceremony would be complete without tribute awards, so here they are!

Betas have a hard time accepting credit. But we will keep trying. It will be left on their door steps like a basket full of puppies looking up with their round brown eyes so they have no choice but to take it.

For maintaining the web site, creating amazing art to go with every episode and co –writing an episode.

The Clubby for Most Valuable Player goes to...

 Grumpybear1031

For writing 5 episodes, 250 pp, which essentially amounts to writing a book.

WMC - Season Finale - Epiode 13

  • Feb. 14th, 2009 at 6:33 PM
wmc

Television shows get cancelled all the time. It’s just business. Shows exist to sell cars, computers, shampoo, instant pudding and crappy microwavable pizza. Right? So unless a show was picked up by a network, where execs could see beyond demos, and have the balls to try something different, then, if it doesn’t do well enough fast enough, it’s bye-bye. What is a TV fan to do? Send emails and letters and then when pleas fall on deaf ears, just mourn the loss and hope the next series they get attached to, doesn’t get yanked off the air after only a handful of episodes.

If you were fortunate enough to be a fan of Women’s Murder Club, a show that started out very well, but then got almost no promo, was essentially ruined and killed, then you didn’t have to mourn for long because thanks to a bunch of wonderful ladies, WMC was resurrected and made even better.

For 13 breathtaking episodes these writers told an amazing story of love and friendships. They created a thrilling and suspenseful murder mystery; something we as readers could sink our teeth into episode after episode.  But like every good thing, it had to come to an end. (Hopefully a temporary end).  Ah, but what an end it was!

For months the Club had been chasing HM. They finally figured out his identity in last week’s episode, only to have a mysterious, horrifying figure get to him before they could. A figure that brings back all kinds of disturbing images. But as she did before, and I have no doubt will continue to do in the future,[info]inspectorboxer , the writer behind Deliver Us from Evil, produces a perfect episode. She offers a finale with enough closure to bring satisfaction and enough unanswered questions to raise the level of anticipation.

With new possibilities, a new character and a another monster for the club to capture, the ground work is set for the continuing story of four women brought together by their common desire for justice and united by the bonds of friendship.

For reviving Women’s Murder Club, and everything they accomplished with the Virtual Season,  these fine people  [info]darandkerry ,[info]demeter94, [info]grumpybear1031[info]inspectorboxer, [info]liz_estrada, [info]mercurychkita, [info]mysensitiveside, [info]revolos55   and    Riley LaShea    can never be thanked enough.

And on a personal note, I want to thank all of them for the nicest surprise email I ever got. :) and congratulations on the success  of the season!!
